Frequently Asked Questions
A thread lift is a non surgical treatment that uses dissolvable stitches to gently lift and tighten the skin.
Yes. They can be broadly divided into 2 categories. Short threads (aka PDO or mono threads) and long threads (aka barbed or lifting threads). Short threads are the small pink threads you may see on our page. They improve skin firmness and tightness. Long threads can physically lift drawn down skin and improve the facial shape.
They work in 2 ways: Firstly the threads act to physically lift sagging skin. Secondly it promotes collagen in our skin which is a key protein giving our skin its tightness and firmness. Collagen is lost with age so promoting new collagen works to reverse or slow ageing.
Short threads can be used almost anywhere on the face. Longs threads are most commonly used to lift cheeks and define the jaw and neck. We do not offer eyebrow lifts at our clinic as it is not an optimal area to lift.
They dissolve on their own over 6-9 months. During that period they stimulate your own collagen to tighten your skin.
Results vary but we generally recommend long threads every 12 months. There’s no right or wrong way to approach treatment. Some of our clients do it once every 2 years others want to build collagen faster and do it every 6 months before spreading the treatment further apart. The amount of collagen you make in response to threads varies depending on personal factors such as genetics, diet, lifestyle and sun exposure.
